About Us
About Bay Engine Records: Bay Engine was dreamed up in 2023 by a couple of Matts who love the San Francisco Bay, its people, culture and, especially, its independent music scene. Having met during the onset of the 2020 pandemic, Matts watched the local art and music scene struggle through a difficult time. Live events were cancelled indefinitely. Venues closed. Bands moved away. But, as it ever was, there was still that artistic soul of the Bay, waiting for folks to come back to shows and events. Open mics started up again. Bands reformed and started to book shows. The Matts wanted to be a part of all of it, and help the resurgence of art and music in the cities they love, and so, Bay Engine Records was born.
Matt Logan: The musical driver of Bay Engine Records, Matt Logan lives and breathes music. His days are spent strumming covers on his guitar and orchestrating impromptu sing-alongs for those folks who need good music in their lives. In his evenings, he's either working on solo projects, or playing with Alvie and The Breakfast Pigs, Logan and Le, or Spud Buddy. He's lived in SF and the East Bay, and loves the whole of it. Check him out here.
Matt Klingensmith: The guy who handles random stuff, be it a website build or dealing with admin or contracts. Matt has lived in nearly every neighborhood of San Francisco during his 15 years in the Bay. He's published zines, orchestrated shows, written lyrics for friends' bands and just generally spent his time exploring as much of the Bay Area's art and music scene as time has allowed.
The Bay Engine Records Mission: To lift up local artists, create community, get music out to the world, and promote equity and fairness in the music industry. We're artist-first, proudly, and always will be.
